What’s up!? welcome to the first post about the Oscars ever here at Gevastation. It’s so exciting around here that your mom, your sister and your grandma all came to celebrate, they brought the dog too but I have my boundaries, your family is freaky. I promise to have them home for dinner. And the nominees are. (How lame is that? Is it so lame is cute?)
Best Picture
- Avatar
- The Blind Side
- District 9
- An Education
- The Hurt Locker
- Inglourious Basterds
- Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire
- A Serious Man
- Up
- Up in the Air
Why such a long title for ‘Precious’? Do I really need to know the novel that it was based on? Why don’t they do this with every movie based on a novel? and I’m not reading anything that has an author named Sapphire on it, sorry NEXT. If you think that I sound ignorant for that, all I got for you is, Good day sir! I said good day! Click the continue reading for the rest of the nominees.
Best Actor
- Jeff Bridges, “Crazy Heart”
- George Clooney, “Up in the Air”
- Colin Firth, “A Single Man”
- Morgan Freeman, “Invictus”
- Jeremy Renner, “The Hurt Lock
I haven’t seen any of this movies but if I have to pick, I’ll say Jeff Bridges takes it based on the buzz around him.
Best Actress
- Sandra Bullock, “The Blind Side”
- Helen Mirren, “The Last Station”
- Carey Mulligan, “An Education”
- Gabourey Sidibe, “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire”
- Meryl Streep, “Julie & Julia”
I have no opinion here, I haven’t seen any of the movies so just give to Meryl Streep. You know that Sandra Bullock isn’t getting anything but a thank you for coming.
Best Supporting actor
- Matt Damon, “Invictus”
- Woody Harrelson, “The Messenger”
- Christopher Plummer, “The Last Station”
- Stanley Tucci, “The Lovely Bones”
- Christoph Waltz, “Inglourious Basterds”
I’ve only seen “Inglorious Baterds” from this list so my vote goes to Walts. The surprise to me is Woody Harrelson. I’ve heard that he was really good in that movie, now I’ll have to see it.
Best Supporting actress
- Penelope Cruz, “Nine”
- Vera Farmiga, “Up in the Air”
- Maggie Gyllenhaal, “Crazy Heart”
- Anna Kendrick, “Up in the Air”
- Mo’Nique, “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire”
Please whatever happens don’t let Mo’Nique win, I don’t think that I can sit through another of her asinine speeches. What’s with that name? you know what, forget that I asked that, I should be the last one to do that.
Best Director
- James Cameron, “Avatar”
- Kathryn Bigelow, “The Hurt Locker”
- Lee Daniels, “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire”
- Quentin Tarantino, “Inglourious Basterds”
- Jason Reitman, “Up in the Air”
I’ll give it to Quentin Tarantino because I’m a big fan. The way Hollywood is though they might give it to James Cameron just because everyone is seen blue right now.
Best animated Feature
- Coraline
- Fantastic Mr Fox
- The Princess and the Frog
- The Secret of Kells
- Up
I saw “Coraline” and “Up” my vote goes to “Coraline” because is a little dark and edgy, the story is really good, if you haven’t seen it, What are you waiting for?. “Up” was good, but is classic Pixar/Disney, I would like more variety and celebrating “Coraline” would encourage other studios to do that.
